Investing in the Kingdom is more than a financial contribution. Our time and talent also give us a chance to store up our treasures (Matthew 6:21). I have had numerous occasions to invest in my Heavenly home through tithing my time, talent, and money. The scariest step of faith for me was committing to the Brazil mission trip. It was a giant step toward the Father that would require me to get out of the boat and start walking. The expenses for this mission trip amounted to more money than I had in my checking account. As a divorced mother of a 4 year old and an infant, I remember feeling overwhelmed with concern and guilt for taking what little money we had to hold as my “security deposit” for the trip. As I began to give my worry and guilt to the Lord in prayer, I started seeing people in my mind’s eye to ask to contribute to my upcoming mission expenses. It was a “go fund me” way of raising money without the assistance of a website. Most of the investors were not Christians, but nevertheless, I began making calls and writing letters to the people who God had placed on my list during my prayer time. He provided all the money I needed through these generous donors and then some. Upon the return from this mission, I received a check from the IRS for overpayment of taxes for the same amount needed to make this journey from Kingsport, TN to El Paraiso Brazil. I still cry with each remembrance of His mighty hand watching over me. He taught me well that He is my Jehovah Jireh. Over the years, I have made and continue to make annual sabbaticals where I play the role of God’s choosing. I have been a builder, painter, roofer, concrete worker, Vacation Bible School Director, teacher, preacher, pharmacist, healer, photographer, keeper of the journals, karate expert, exercise guru, softball extraordinaire, door to door evangelist, maid, singer, actress, prayer
