Nutrition while breastfeeding is very important. As a new breastfeeding mom, you will notice many changes in your desire to eat and drink. You are not alone! Here are some tips to help you as you begin this incredible journey of breastfeeding. Drink lots of water if you plan to breastfeed your baby. Not only do you need to drink water throughout the day while you're at home, but also take water bottles with you when you leave the house. You'll be amazed at how thirsty you get. Night feedings are another time when you'll find yourself extremely thirsty. It's best to keep a large cup of water next to the chair you sit in to breastfeed your baby, preferably a cup with a lid and straw. Benefits of breastfeeding * Mothers milk is the best food a baby can have in their first 6 months of life, then solid food can be mixed with breastfeeding. * It protects the baby against diseases. * It is free. * It is clean and has the correct temperature. * It helps babies develop a close relationship with the mother. * It is easy to digest. * It does not cause constipation or diarrhea. All mothers who are breastfeeding, do it as early as 30 minutes after birth. It is best to breast-feed babies from birth to childhood. The mother should drink lots of fluids and eat nutritious food like milk, cheese, eggs, meat and green leafy vegetables. How to breastfeed * Hold your baby as soon as possible. * Lift your breast with your free hand and guide them to your baby. * Hold your baby's back and neck with your other hand. * Leave the nipple in his mouth, at least half or more. * Check the position of its mouth - lips opened up, chin resting against the chest. * Parent must relax and breathe.
