Decent Essays
During 6th grade, I had learned the importance of not giving up. Throughout the year, school got more difficult. But this time, I wasn't prepared. Eventually, I got tired of trying so I started to slack off and not pay attention. I still tried to get a good grade in that class, but I knew I wasn't giving

To all the doctors, teachers, peers, and family members who didn’t believe I would amount to greatness, thank you. When I was young, I didn’t understand why school seemed more challenging for me than it did for everyone else. What I Learned In Mrs. Hoffman’s Class You don’t realize how much of your childhood you spend in school. When you're a kid it seems that all you do is get up every morning to get on that yellow school bus that comes to your house every morning. There is something about the sound of a school bus stopping on the blacktop. Elementary school was the all the same every year I got a new teacher that was the person who taught me for the whole year;right up until the faith last day of school when the teachers would bring the creaky old cart full of board games and cards.…

Sixth grade for was one of my most difficult years of my life so far for a few reasons. First off, sixth grade was my first year of middle school, meaning a whole new school, new school system with class schedules, lockers, multiple teachers, and having passing periods were all new concepts for me to grasp as a kid. More importantly however, the second reason sixth grade was so difficult for me was that over the summer leading to that school year, me and my family left the Catholic church that my mom’s family had been going to for about a hundred years or so, and it was a completely different environment for our entire family because we spent the entire summer up to the first week of school looking for a new church in our area, going to a new…

Looking back on the events where I fell into inevitable failure, nothing stands out to me more than the time I nearly failed pre-algebra in middle school. To be honest, while that awkward 7th grade me focused more on getting others to know my name, I wasn't focusing on the workload or taking notes in class and we all know what happens next. F's, F's, and more F's smacked me in my face, but of course I didn't have any regard of it. Instead I was trying to be popular (which you and I both know wasn't going to happen), and pretending to be someone else. This could be characterized as many small fails inside one, humongous fail.…

At the center of the painting, a farmer plows his field by the aid of his ox as his neighbor shepherds his flock along the hillside. In the distant ocean, ships are setting sail with as much hopes to profit, as there is cargo. But what- no, who- is that? From the bottom right of the painting, are those someone’s legs helplessly flailing upward out of the water? Could that insignificant blot be Icarus himself?…

For as long as I can remember, I have enjoyed learning which is why for me it has never been a task to go to school. I recall that beginning on my first day of Kindergarten I made my mom drive me to school early because I wanted to be the first one in class. I was that kid - the one that was always on time, always answered questions ( maybe even more than I should have), and who could be considered a “nerd/geek.” But I never took offense to those names because I knew they stood for what I represented and quite frankly I was never shy about the enjoyment I took in learning. However, somewhere along my educational career in middle school, I began to lose the joy I took in learning or rather the methods through which I was made to learn.…

Do you know someone who is stressed out over college? I know sometimes I feel like I can’t handle it anymore. Having a class that helps students cope with college reasons to show students that they aren’t alone.…
