The time was June of 2017. It was an exciting time, the Cleveland Cavaliers were in the NBA Finals, summer break was beginning, and I had the freedom to do anything. The most thrilling event was still ahead of me and that was my trip to Europe. When the trip was first announced my sophomore year I knew this was a once in a lifetime opportunity I had to take advantage of. Finally, after a year of waiting in mile long lines to get my passport and repetitive US Border briefings, I was a mere week from paradise. Beautiful monuments, world renowned cathedrals and most importantly …show more content…
This was my first attempt, but why not give it a shot, I had no luck with the language prior to the trip. As we finished up our long walks through historical sites, we made our way back to our hotel. This is hotel was in the slums of Munich, but was gorgeous. The rooms were spotless and fresh sheets were replaced by every day. Best of all we were greeted every morning with a glorious spread of German sausages, homemade rolls and several traditional German items. The final stop in Germany was the breathtaking Neuschwanstein castle, or more famously known as the castle that is stamped on every postcard from Germany. This has been noted as one of the world’s most glorious castles, with views like no other and an art collection built for a king. Our chaperons told us that taking this train was going to be a special experience and that we’d have these huge cabins on the train in comparison to what you see in movies. Were they wrong or what. When you enter the train you have ten minutes to get on if you don’t make the time you are left at the station. The rooms were big enough to comfortably fit one person, maybe, we had 5 in the room along with luggage. To make matters worse, it was 85 degrees with 90 percent humidity that night as 5 testosterone driven men fight for cool air and a sleeping space. There everyone laid uncomfortably as we became drowned in sweat like we went for a swim, dripping from head to toe. After a sleepless night consumed with a smell comparable to a high school locker room we finally reached the water taxi that would take us into town. Not the way I wanted this to start ,but still had high expectations. Venice was as amazing as I expected. To see a city built on water and all transportation by boat instead of car was truly amazing. The one thing I had anticipated prior to the trip was the glass blowing. When I finally got to sit in on a session it was mesmerizing. It amazed me how someone could possibly shape and design such incredible glassware with such basic material and tools. It was so incredible that I
