The beach was, of course, the greatest sight on the island. The water was clearer than any body of water I had ever seen. The waves were calm, and they didn’t always topple over each other and crash like in Daytona Beach. As I looked out into the ocean from where I was sitting on the beach, I could see little kids with their parents playing in the sand and in the water, either building sand castles or floating on tubes because the water was so calm. I remember walking on the beach barefoot, the beach having a multitude of shells all along the shore and on the sand. There was not a patch of soft sand around, and I had to make my way through the shells to get to where I was going, which was down the shore of the beach. I walked maybe one mile before I turned around, my feet all cut up and red from the shells. I picked up some of the shells that looked special and different from the rest, and felt their different textures as I looked at them and turned them around in my hands. Some of them I even decided to keep. Even though I didn’t enjoy the touch as much, I was still able to use it to get better moments of the other smells. By walking I was able to see new sights, new people, and the different buildings along the beach. The sound of the waves never left my ears
