My Strengths: A Self Analysis

Improved Essays
I believe that my strengths have influenced both me as a person as well as my career choice. My top five strengths are; responsibility, includer, woo, developer, and adaptability. All of these qualities make up who I am as well as what is important and valued in my life. I try to think of my strengths and how I apply them to my life, but now that I have been led to a career in music therapy, I am now held to a higher standard of how these strengths have and will influence my choice of profession. My first strength is responsibility. I was not surprised when this showed up as one of my strengths, especially my top strength. When having to deal with the loss of a parent at nine years old, I was forced to grow up fast and not only take on responsibility for myself, but also for my household and taking care of my family. I was fortunate and blessed to have an amazing model of responsibility from both my mother and father very early in my life. Once my father …show more content…
The dictionary definition of developer is, “to grow or cause to grow and become more mature, advanced, and elaborate.” I see myself being a developer in many ways. There are a lot of mature nineteen year olds, but in my class throughout grade school and high school, I have felt like I was a mature example for many people. Whether that’s with decisions that I’ve made, things that I have chosen to say, or with the way that I respect and love people. One main reason I think that I have matured as a person in this world, is because I have and continue to mature in my faith with Jesus Christ. Everyday I strive to be more like Jesus than the day before, and most days I fail, but the fact that I try and take little steps to be closer with Him, makes me grow and makes me mature. I also am a musician which requires you to be a developer. Whether I am learning new music, a new instrument, or a new skill, I have to develop ways to approach learning, improving, and

In the Strengths Finder survey, my five greatest strengths are adaptability, harmony, responsibility, consistency and an includer (Gallup, 2010). I realized that I had some of those strengths but some of those are new to me. The strength that has always stood out to me that I knew about was responsibility. The other four, I guess I have developed along the way. As I sit and think about my results of my test.…

After reading a few chapters of Strengths Quest, I was instructed to participate in the Strengths Finder assessment (Anderson, Clifton, & Schreiner, 2006). This 30 minute assessment was an interesting tool that pointed out my greatest strengths. It also provided a detailed description of what having those strengths mean and examples of how they are prominent in a person 's life. After taking the StrengthsFinder survey, I discovered that my five dominant strengths are empathy, harmony, consistency, relator, and restorative.…

The five greatest strengths shown to me by the Strengthsfinder Survey were Consistency, Belief, Responsibility, Developer, and Relator. I chose a life of Civil Service, in the Military and now as a Police Officer. Having Consistency and Responsibility I believe fit right into this life choice and in my opinion if you don't have Belief in what you're doing you shouldn’t be doing it in the first place. I utilize Consistency on a daily basis as a Police Officer. I wholeheartedly believe each individual has the right to be treated fairly and on equal ground to anyone else regardless of social, economic or criminal justice standings.…

One day as I leisurely read, I stumbled upon the following quote, “Strength does not come from winning. Your struggles develop your strengths. When you go through hardships and decide not to surrender, that is strength.” On a website comprised of many short yet moving quotes, this one quote in particular was the most tangible to me in the entire collection. For weeks, I pondered on the very essence of strength and questioned what hardships have I endured and how was I strengthened by it.…

The question that I must answer deals with who I am and where do my ideas come from. I am a twenty-two year old African-American female named Marlene Denise Ware, and I consider my family experiences important as to our health and well-being. My family is not perfect and my family origin and chosen relationships with reference to culture are a healthy functional family. We learn how tolerate each other, and I complain because of how someone in my family might be handling a situation and have quite a few negative dynamics and some positive strengths about them. I have read that exploring your own family origin should be with a trained person such as a family therapist because they can provide insight.…

Significance is another strength of mine, which demonstrates my commitment to make a difference; I want to bring meaning to my actions, which includes being a difference maker. My second highest strength is analytical; I will look at all factors to solve problems, and look at cause and effect factors in situations to make a difference. Our strengths are an aspect in our lives that not many of us are aware of. In our society, our weaknesses are concentrated in our daily lives so that we can better ourselves. Rath stated, “You cannot be anything you wanted to be – but you can be a lot more of who you are already are ” (2007). This statement illustrates how important it is for strengths to be emphasized in our life instead of our weaknesses. Concentrating only on our weaknesses limits us by putting a hundred percent effort into an area that we aren’t best at.…

The first thing I have learned through Exploring Your Strengths class is that my strengths are: belief, restorative, discipline, developer, and relator. My belief strength gives me core values that are unchanging, and has helped define a purpose for my life, and has helped me see what is truly important in my life. If it was not for my belief strength, it would not have been easy to decide a major. I chose pre-nursing because I knew my core values, and that nursing is what I am called to do. Restorative gives me the ability to solve problems and find a solution.…
