The Importance Of My Primary Family

Improved Essays
My primary family in household consists of my mom, dad, my older sister, her 5 year old son, myself and my 2 year old son. My mom, Lora and dad, Louis are 53 years old. They have been married for 29 years. They were high school sweethearts. We have lived in the same two story house since I was born. We live in a nice neighborhood in Neptune that is close to Tinton Falls and Ocean. I grew up in a stable environment, raised by both of my parents. When I was younger, I use to be a daddy’s girl, but as I gotten older I became closer to my mother. My dad and I have a weird relationship. We see each other every day, but it’s more of a mutual relationship. It seems like we only say “Hi. How are you”? Also when something is wrong with my car, other than that we don’t talk that much. There were so many people who doubt me and said I couldn’t do it and that it was impossible. Yet, here I am. That experience made me believe that anything is possible. That I can do anything that I set my mind to. It’s truly amazing and I am forever blessed and grateful. My family was very supportive and encouraging. They played a huge part of helping me get to where I am now. My close friends were encouraging. Most importantly, my mom is the most valuable player. She is the one who helped me take care of the baby while I was in class or at my internship. She made sure the baby was good and still does. My mom is my best friend, my rock. I couldn’t ask for a better

There are so many students out there in low-income communities who do not know what it is like to have someone who wants to see them succeed, someone who wants to see them achieve regardless of their race or economic status. I seek to join Teach for America for many reasons and three of those reasons are; for one, I want to help make a difference in the lives of students, I want the students that I encounter to know that I care about their education, I want to see them succeed and I want them to know that I have very high expectation of them. Secondly, growing up in a low-income community myself, I can relate to these students. I want my students to know that just because they are currently living in an underserved community, it does not mean…

Theory Paper Theories are the foundation of career counseling. The goal of learning about theories is not necessarily to develop certain procedures or techniques for counseling, but to use them as a basis to understand career counseling and the research behind it. Zunker (2012) puts the main counseling theories in to four groups: trait-oriented, social learning and cognitive, developmental, and person-in-environment. Each of these theories marks an attempt to help and understand clients and the best way to counsel them. Some conflict each other while others build on each other.…

Beginning at the age of three, my life had encountered a series of maelstroms and conflicts that would go far past what would be considered acceptable content for a childhood. The pivotal turn in which reshaped my youth was my parent’s bitter divorce. As a result of this disbanding of the core family unifier, I was relocated into a home where I found myself encroached with apprehensive turmoils and under the stern hand of an abusive grandfather. At three years old, my parents ended their strained relationship in a divorce. I can only remember the harsh conclusion of their marriage, as before two my recollection of events was strained due to my young age.…

I am being forced to write this against my will so I guess I will talk about the time when my parents got divorced. I was seven years old at the time it happened and I honestly did not care about the divorce when I was younger because everyone acted like everything was fine, and the only thing different was that my dad was not around constantly. I soon learned something was not right when I would hear my mom crying at night when she thought everyone is asleep. My older brother and I were the ones who had to deal with my mom while she was a mess, and could not get dressed or even get out of bed. My younger brother was only 3 at the time, and still was too young to understand what was happening.…
