The Importance Of My Personality In My Life

Improved Essays
For most of my life I have always enjoyed helping other people, I think it comes from the way my family has always done whatever they can to help others and that was passed down onto me growing up and helping my family do community service events and things of that nature. To this day I find that I tend to put the needs of other people, especially the ones I care about, above the needs of myself. I'm not saying i'm going to be the patron saint or anything like that, but I feel that it is one of the main qualities that has stayed in my personality throughout my life and it has been one that i can honestly say is my favorite qualities in myself.

For as long as I can remember my family has always loved helping other people, and giving back

Ever since I was little, I’ve always wanted to help people. Being a Boy Scout gave me the opportunity to do so. When I was eight years old I joined the cub scouts which began my life long campaign of helping people. I started off learning to take the oath to serve the people weather it be by the organization or myself. I assisted by selling popcorn for charity organizations ( The San Antonio Food Bank and The Knights of Columbus) or for money that we needed for our camp out trips.…

At a young age, I was taught to do things for the greater good, my family has always given back whether it is donating food and clothes or adopting a family for Christmas. Growing up I have received assistance because at times my mother and I needed help so I personally know how much of an impact a small act of kindness can have and that is why I decided to join the Bakersfield Police Explorer program, which is community service based volunteer work. Getting into this program required various steps such as entrance testing, background check, and an interview. I wanted to be apart of this program as a way to test the waters of a career in law enforcement, helping out in the community, and to develop as a person.…

There honestly isn’t any population of people that I’m not interested in working with, after taking different courses in my undergraduate program, I found myself interested in working with all populations of people. From a little girl, until now, I have always been raised on the principle of giving back to your community . For over seven years I have been an active volunteer at the Inidantown Food Pantry. Though it seems like a minute role, it is a very impactful one. Indiantown is a small cited triangulated between Okeechobee, Stuart, and Palm Beach that, by statistics of the 2016 Census, houses just a little over 6,000 people.…

Service has always been a big part of my life. I have always been involved in my church’s youth group, the Pioneers of Mary. The Pioneers are always doing acts of service, and I love getting involved to help others. Last Christmas, the group and I went caroling to some lonely elders in a nursing home. I know that my time with the senior citizens gave them some Christmas joy and made them feel very happy.…

I’ve never been able to decline help to someone in need. I always put everyone else's needs before my own because when I sacrifice myself in order to put a smile on someone else’s face it gives me peace. Contributing to a cause to make the world a better place is worth the sleepless nights. When one is passionate about helping people it won’t matter to them how long they have to go without food or how tired they will feel at the end of the day. Just this week, I’ve had several occasions where I gladly gave up my time to do people favors or help someone in need.…

Doing things like baking for my elderly neighbors, or helping them out with any odd jobs they need done may help brighten their day, and, in turn, it makes my day better, knowing that I have helped someone. I am part of the Church of God Women’s Ministries at my local church, and we help those in our community whom are in need of items such as clothing and food. I hope to continue and increase my participation in this group as I grow up. This past year, I was part of the Angels Among Us group at my school, along with others in my grade, in which we would help to provide children in need with clothing items. Volunteering and participating in groups that assist others in need is something that I wish to continue, and I believe that it helps me to become a better person.…

Paying it forward or giving back has always been my motto to live by since I was a teenager. I believe I had picked up this quality from my mother. From the conversation, the way he carried himself and his personality outshines from what I thought based on his appearance. There were hobbies that I could tell were his favorite, based on how he smiled whenever he was talking about them. He told me of his goals and just how he was talking about his goals made me believe that nothing will stop him from achieving his goals. An elderly woman who got to take part in a high school community service project states, “Many think that volunteering is all about what you give. But what catches you by surprise is how much you receive in return.” This demonstrates why many people do not feel that they should give back because they do not believe the benefits that they can get from it as well. Consequently, when creating that feeling of happiness and satisfaction in someone else’s life, it comes back to the person creating it. Volunteering to help someone get tutored, help the handicapped, involve themselves with a program like Meals on Wheels, certain environmental work, etc., not only does one gain from that, but one’s community has been helped because of them.…

The analysis results from the various self-assessments have afforded me the opportunity to notice hidden aspects about myself. I have been able to perform contemplative and thorough self-examinations of my personality in order to determine viable methods to enrich my overall personality. It has been my experience that organizational behavior in many ways are similar to the institutionalized behaviors exhibited by those in orphanages or prisons. The similarities reside in the fact that the workplace is an environment where people from very different cultures, socioeconomic backgrounds, ethnicities and religious beliefs find themselves compartmentalized into an environment, directed towards a new way of life and then ordered to play nice…
