My Childhood Memories

As my life moves forward, old memories fade away and new ones become an essential part of my life. However, if there is one thing that will stay with me forever, it would be my childhood memories. I was born in Belarus in 1990. I had a loving mother but no father – he left us when I was six years old. When my father left, my mom finished accelerated nursing courses and joined the army to be able to provide for our little family, and my duties concluded to taking care of my younger brother while she was away. Certainly, it was a tough time for me but it was during those years that I realized how much my family was important to me, although I was yet to understand the real significance of my mother’s sacrifice. I came to the U.S.A alone about 5 years ago and settled in Cape May, NJ where I started working as a housekeeper and later as a cashier to support myself. I was dreaming about going to college one day but my dreams of becoming a doctor were set aside as I could not think about it when I had priorities like food and shelter to consider. Several years later, however, I saved enough to be able to support myself and come back to my dreams to pursue college. When I joined Rowan University, I learned about premed track and met people who inspired me to never give up and learn about medicine in the United States, and it was there that I was introduced to osteopathic medicine and its unique …show more content…
Besides, my past experiences made me realize one thing: I truly love life, I love it with all my heart, and I keep saying to others that whatever circumstances we as people have to go through, life is still worth living. I want to become a doctor for many reasons but one of them is still because I wish to be able to influence my patients’ lives by inspiring them to think of their health for the sake of the ones they love, if not for their own sake. I want to inspire them to never give up on themselves, and I want to learn their life stories before I make a decision upon their condition because it is important, for their health and for myself.
