My Mom's Positive Impact On My Life

My mom has positively impacted my life by always teaching me the importance of being independent, doing my best in school and being supportive of our family financially, emotionally and physically.
The first way my mom has positively impacted my life is by always teaching me the importance of being independent. My mom always felt like it was important to teach me to be independent since being able to depend on someone will not always be an option in life. At a young age, my mom had to become independent which helped her prepare for future obstacles she endured. The first event that molded my mom to become independent was when she was eight years old and her mother was in a car accident. My mom and grandma were walking along the side-walk when a car drove up hit my grandma. The injury left my grandmother with multiple broken bones in her hands, legs and back. After that incident, my grandma could no longer take care of my mother how she was used to. My mom had to take on the responsibilities

A couple of years ago, my father was laid off work. Since he was the households main source of income, it affected us quite a bit. My mom stepped up to help out by booking my hair clients and taking on a job at a call center. she took on the role as the main provider so that we could still maintain our lives as if nothing happened. The next way my mom was always showing support was by helping out her family in the Caribbean. Whenever my mom could, she would buy a bunch of clothes and food and ship them to her all family to help as much as she could. Even though we had our own financial hardships, she still made sure all her other family was taken care of. There were many times when she could have been selfish and not done anything for her family, but she chose to be compassionate and caring.
