In my short story, I omitted a few sentences because after revising my literacy narrative multiple times I found that some sentences were repetitive. Along with that, I combined a few sentences together to take the unnecessary words out and to keep the primary topics within the sentences. In addition to that, I excluded the paragraphs that paid attention to the cultural significance of writing and reading for me because after reevaluating the content of those paragraphs I felt this section did not necessarily connect with my topic. Cultural awareness in literature was more of a personal attribute to myself as a human with compassion than as a student with academic skills, which is the fundamental focus of my paper. Some of my well-written sentences or transitions had to be excluded from the short story because those sentences had a strong concentration on my perspective, and the short story needed to have more of my mom’s perspective. However, there were more advantages than disadvantages. I was able to give quotations from my mom and myself to tell a story. I additionally was able to give a background of my experiences, and I felt that made the story easier to read and follow. With the short story, I was able to have pictures and background designs, which made the presence of the short story more appealing to read. I enjoyed writing the short story because I had more opportunities to be creative and give support to the paragraphs. Although my short story took a lot of time for me to write, I truly enjoyed writing the story. I reviewed my errors and did the best that I could do to improve the quality of my story. It was riveting to see my life through my mom’s point of view, and I revisited many memories between my mom and me that helped me write about becoming a stronger writer and reader. The main point of the story was about my struggles and progress in reading and writing, and this version of my literacy narrative challenged me to have a new view on how to tell this story in a creative and organized
