In 2012, I medically retired after serving seven years in the Army due to my having lupus and not being able to deploy. As soon as I moved back home to Alabama, I enrolled in Virginia College to begin getting my degree in Business Administration. I needed at least another semester to do so but my advisor had advised me not to take the max classes as I had done during the summer semester. My original plan was to take the max classes so that I could boost my gpa back up higher but with her advising me not too, it would have taken at least 2 semesters to get it back up to where I wanted.
After much consideration, I decided to switch schools and come here to Faulkner University in order to give myself a fresh start. So far, things are going well and my lupus has been doing well in the months since I got sick last year. My only issue that I have now is that my walking is still not up to par but I am currently working to get that fixed. My plan is to make sure that as soon as I feel myself getting slightly sick, to let my advisers know so that I can know as to what I can do from there. No matter what though, I refuse to let lupus take away my ability to attend
