My family is Hispanic, so I grew up around English and Spanish mostly. I am a family of five, I have a brother and sister. My siblings and I were raised by our grandmother do to the fact my parents would work constantly. As you can imagine siblings sometimes are the opposite of each other. My sister and I behaved differently when it came to school, I was the one who was eager to get to school and she was more of the one who would kick and scream not wanting to be dropped off.
I faced many challenges, my family wasn’t a school orientated so anything I had to do like a project and homework I had to figure it out my myself. Which wasn’t a big deal to me at the time because I wasn’t required to do much. It has been just a basic coloring, drawing, and volcano projects anything you can imagine an elementary student does. Literacy is an art that can take many forms, for example my literacy history through writing I was able to tell my story and set images without pictures. Literacy helped me claim how crucial it is for a student to receive support from both home and education to help the student strive rather than make them believe they are incapable.
