Many people get different things throughout their life that they can claim as their own. Somethings could have special significance whether it came from someone special or not. Over the years, people tend to cherish the items or end up getting rid of them for certain reasons. Whether it was given to you as a gift or you had to earn it, everything has a special meaning. Over the years, I got many things from many people, but most of it didn’t have meaning to me. The three things that I found to have a significance to me is my soloist flute, track spikes, and lettermen jacket. All these things I asked my parents for in middle school. My parents always knew that they raised an energetic and athletic kid. I was always running around, antagonizing my family in friends saying that I could beat them in a race. Then as soon as I was enrolling into eight grade, I had walked past this booth that said “Come join Track and Field.” My parents saw me just starring at it and decided to go talk to the coaches. After talking to the coaches, my parents saw my face and were like I don’t think track this year is a good idea. Man was I really upset that night even at dinner even though they still had about seven months to decide and give me a final answer. Then around the end of February, I come home from school one day and my parents are like come on we are going to eat and get a surprise for you. The whole drive out to Kansas City, Kansas I kept wondering what the surprise could be. So after we had gotten done eating, we drive about another ten minutes to Dick’s Sporting Goods. That’s when I knew that my parents were getting me my track spikes. We enter the store and they’re like “so we decided that we were going to let you do track since you seem very passionate about it.” The track spikes were size nine, the main color of the shoe was silver with pink laces and a light blue and lime green Nike swoosh. After earning two letters, one in band and one in winter guard, my parents decided it was a good idea to buy me a jacket to show my achievements. The jacket has Columbia blue leather sleeves with different patches on them. Those patches include the grad year, the school mascot, and bands that go on the arm saying Frosh, Soph, Junior and senior. Then the main part of the jacket is a navy blue wool fabric that had my name embodied on it. On the back was a cape that was Columbia blue wool with my last name in navy blue wool letters. Then by the time I graduated, I ended up having six letters on it for the activities I was in. I also added another patch on the sleeve that said McDonald’s Thanksgiving Day Parade 2013. I also had six metals on there from band and track. I never got rid of the jacket because I put too much time and effort into it. So I decided to let me sister, who is a sophomore in high school this year, wear it during the winter time. It’s still in good, pristine
