The Importance Of My Life

My mind is possessed by the word success, and to me - Bianca Piezas, this is what makes my life worth living. Finding the light at the end of the tunnel is what my heart whispers to me even if my logical mind may disagree, but hoping and wishing the best of the future and working with determination for a life that’s worth working for. I, Bianca Nicole Constantino Piezas, was born a week before Christmas Eve, deep into the hectic, frantic end of the year season on December 18, 2000, in Manila, Philippines, a week later than usual who was born through emergency caesarean section because my umbilical cord was tangled around my neck. Of course, my interesting start in this world has always been something out of the ordinary, and the manner I tackle …show more content…
I always admired how wide the scope is of what I can learn in a dynamic, ever-changing world where there is so much to learn, to explore, to observe and to cherish that one could run out of time just learning. I have always loved words bleeding into the print, as much as I find delight in crafting and interweaving words together to bring alive such descriptive, imaginative sensations that I can share with the people I love and those who enjoy the beauty of creativity. My music taste is as spontaneous and arbitrary as my moods and feelings throughout the day, as my playlist can go from classical composers like Tchaikovsky and Rachmaninoff, to Korean pop music, Original Pinoy Music (OPM) that my parents listened to in their youth, to even Latino reggaeton and bachata popular in Central America that I try to play on my guitar, but my love and admiration for music being able to be with me no matter the situation is what keeps me pressing …show more content…
Ironically, the funny story is for most of my early life I was so sure that I would take a similar route towards the math and sciences stream like most of my family, especially with how my parents dedicated a considerable amount of effort ensuring I would be proficient in those skills. With their help, I did pretty well, got amazing grades in the honours roll, invited into the advanced science class, and aspired to major in aeronautical engineering to work for NASA at the ripe age of 6. At this point, I had a one-track mind thinking that you were either good at arts or sciences, and that you couldn’t do both as you were destined to be in either one, but I was wrong. I am fortunate that I am able to have interest and succeed (at varying yet acceptable rates) in no matter what path I took, but it took me years to truly listen to what my heart called to

I didn't realize that playing and teaching these young adolescent minds would soon be the major I would be studying. I’ve chosen lots of areas to study throughout high school, but I’ve always kept changing my mind. For example, I’ve gone from wanting to be a marine biologist all the way from wanting to be an entrepreneur. I never could figure out what my heart…

In my American government class, we use the term political socialization to describe the influence one’s family has on their own political identity. Although the political aspect of political socialization remains exclusive to the term, the concept that families have a profound influence on the social development of children is wide-ranging, even helping explain people's perceived value of a college education. In my own life, the expected influence of my family's experience with higher education on my own outlook never took. My family's own experience has presented me with both opportunities and challenges in pursuing my educational goals as well as testing the integrity of the goals.…

I've always liked math too so when I took AP chemistry and it contained chemistry and math, I was all for it. Discussing this with my AP Chemistry teacher helped me decide what I wanted to pursue. There were days where I would stay after school in his class so we could discuss the different engineering and some possible careers. The reason I wanted to pursue Engineering is because it also involves using your mind to understand and create new…

Behind the curly hair, the spontaneous laugh, and the vivid imagination, something sparked a fire in my soul. Throughout my life I have felt so lost, like a pier soul trying to find something to attach itself to. I consequently tried to find my purpose in this world and find a passion that was worth embracing, but nonetheless I would fail. It was not until my freshman year of high school, when I finally got that indescribable feeling. I had found what to attach myself too, I had found myself within the music.…

In Aldous Huxley’s “Brave New World”, citizens live without individuality, intelligence, and emotions, all of which can be connected to the absence of playable music. In the real world, everyone is affected by music that they listen to or create themselves, but it is truly underestimated. People have the distinguished ability to express their individuality through the varying types of music in the world and how they react to it. Being a musician can challenge someone’s mental and physical abilities and, if they accept the challenge, can make them more intelligent and capable members of society. Music can also cater to one’s differing emotions and help them to understand their feelings and coping methods.…

I’m jealous of people who have always known what they want to do when they grow up. I’ve questioned myself for so long. Additionally, I'm somewhat of a realist--sometimes people think I'm a pessimist, but really that's just how cruel reality is. I've always favored math and science over all other subjects. As a kid I loved to build and always played with bionicles, legos and other objects. One time, I made a robot my own size out of water bottles. Both of my parents and most of my family are engineers, so it's only logical that that is what I want to do.…

Ever since I can remember I have been preoccupied with music. As a child I remember obsessing over my dad's CD collection and spending lengthy afternoons just listening to them with him. My home was never silent there was always music playing in the living room, the sounds of drums being banged on or guitar amps booming from the basement. If you ask my mother she might tell you this was bothersome but if you ask me it was perfect.…

Aerospace engineering is responsible for many inventions that we take for granted every day. Things like the rumble strips down the highways, braces, Velcro, Febreze, and much more. Without aerospace engineering inventions like these would not exist. By exploring how to travel in space, different inventions are made that citizens can use in day to day life.…

Most people who knew me growing up thought I would pursue something in the field of literature, or maybe law, which was understandable since I am an avid reader and capable public speaker and writer. Pursuing a scientific degree was even more unorthodox given that I placed into the second most remedial math class and had never actually had chemistry or biology class or lab before. But I would not be deterred. I knew what I wanted and I was going to do what it took to get it, which at one point included working three part-time jobs to pay for my part time classes. Then, after transferring to the University of Houston to get my bachelors degree, I took Calculus III and discovered I liked mathematics.…

Being leader doesn’t mean being the boss of everybody, that’s a completely different thing.
