The Importance Of My Life

How should I start this story off?; I’ve been through an enormous amount throughout my life. As I go through this journey with you i just want you to know that this is who I am, and I can 't change that. I have lived in a lot of places in the last eighteen years. I feel that this is what has shaped me to who I am today because of where i’ve been and how my experiences there have made me grow. I grew up in a incredibly small town in the middle of nowhere called Stet, Which is still located in the middle of the state of Missouri. Keep in mind that this tiny town has a population of like 400 people, so growing up I never was that social. My parents raised me and 2 of my four sisters out here for most of our youth. My oldest sister is 37 and …show more content…
Growing up in a small town made me appreciate how much time the teachers had to instruct you. While in kindergarten I met one of my good friends Dillon! Everyday after school we would hang out and ride dirt bikes. To this day I am glad that we have been able to stay good friends; even though we live far away from each other now. After this one year my mom took me out of public school and home schooled me. I didn’t like being homeschooled because that meant that I wouldn 't be able to hang out with my friends as much. It was an adjustment for awhile when your mom is the bus driver for school and you don’t even ride the bus. My dad was never there during the day because he got up super early to go to work. I have older parents so I wasn 't that old when my dad retired. When he did this he was home a lot more; but I think I liked it better with my mom home. Growing up with 4 sisters, their was a lot of competition until I was about 13. This is around the time that I went back to public school for the sixth grade. When I was in seventh grade, I started football, I really enjoyed it. I played as a offencive linemen on the team for about 4 years. When I went back to school I attended Norborne Middle and High school, and it made me have a better understanding on being social. Before I wouldn’t think about going and talking to someone I didn’t know; Things have really changed since …show more content…
This was my Junior year of highschool, when I was seventeen years old. I got used to driving real fast because I drove about fifty miles every day.I always enjoyed being independent because when you are you don’t have to ask anyone for anything. After completing about 75% of this year of school I sadly dropped out because the stress in my life was to much. If I can regret one thing in my life it was that day. At first it was amazing, work was easier, everything was fun but after awhile I started to realize where my life was going. This alone was so scary that eventually, when I moved up her I decided to finish highschool and get that diploma that I so desperately

There are so many students out there in low-income communities who do not know what it is like to have someone who wants to see them succeed, someone who wants to see them achieve regardless of their race or economic status. I seek to join Teach for America for many reasons and three of those reasons are; for one, I want to help make a difference in the lives of students, I want the students that I encounter to know that I care about their education, I want to see them succeed and I want them to know that I have very high expectation of them. Secondly, growing up in a low-income community myself, I can relate to these students. I want my students to know that just because they are currently living in an underserved community, it does not mean…

Although I played in sixth grade and liked being with my friends, football was just not my strong suit, so I quit before the seventh grade season. Quitting the team allowed me to stop a sport I did not like, but I was looked down upon by some kids. Sometimes I would be separated from friends or left out of games at lunch. Like Edna, I went against…

I remember the moment my mom told me we were moving to another town. I was only about 6 or 7 when it happened so I was rather excited when I heard the news. When I heard the news we were moving to Spearfish, South Dakota, which I had never heard of, I was wondering what kind of place it was. I am from the small town of Wall, South Dakota which unless you’re talking about a village, is pretty small. When I heard the news I wondered what kind of place a town called Spearfish might look like.…

Starting first grade I thought we were the top dogs because we got moved down to the bigger playground with the bigger kids. Since they knew we liked kick ball so much they built a kick ball diamond for us. There was just so much to do in the shortest amount of time. Everyday was a new day, I never did the same thing, whether it was playing on the upper part on the monkey bars seeing who could hang the longest or playing football with the guys. I can remember my first year at kickball I was taller than most of the guys because they haven’t hit their growth spurt yet, so everyone wanted me on their team because I was the only girl once again that was better than most of the guys.…

When I first became aware of my ethical foundation was when I was only 3 years of age. I knew that there was a set of rules and if those rules were not followed around the house there would be consequences. My mother was always the one who set the rules and she made sure that my brother and I had an idea of how to act and behave. For example, have you ever gone to the grocery store and you see a kid crying and throwing a tantrum because they are not getting that new toy or that candy they wanted? Well, I was never one of those kids my mother thought us that if she said no because that was no money or for whatever reason being then that was the end of discussion.…
