Throughout this semester, I have been able to watch myself grow not only as a photographer, but as a journalist. I believe my class feature profile was the best piece I did throughout the semester. The mistakes I made were understandable, things like grammar, or forgetting to paragraph for the quotes. I did a nice job giving details and making the story interesting. I gave specific times and places which added to the story nicely. I asked enough questions to write a good story, and I picked a good topic to ask about. If I were able to redo it, I would have added more quotes. Although my class feature profile was good, a piece that needed a little more work would be my teacher feature profile I did over Mrs. Nussbaum and her love for running. In this piece, I strayed from the original topic, and failed to have enough information. While my story was about running, I converted the interview to her teaching career. I can see now that I did not complete the task that was given to me. If I were able to redo it, I would ask my interviewee more questions. That way, I would have had enough information to continue on the right topic. Due to not having enough information, I …show more content…
I want to equally be as good at writing as I am with photography. I hope to be able to write interesting and informative pieces. To meet my goal, I am going to read a lot more news articles. I believe that studying them and the way they're written will help me improve. I will look at all the different writing styles, and choose the best one for me. If I see others being successful with their writing, I think it will help me become successful in mine. It will give me the inspiration I need to become a better journalist. I'm also going to put more time into my writing pieces. A good piece is not something that is thrown together within a day. I am going to dedicate my time into improving my writing and making sure I'm doing a good

During this semester I personally contributed to my overall success in the PTAP 2310 class by studying consistently and coming prepared to class. I found that having previously read the chapter and notes, I was able to further understand what Dr. Amite was teaching. This also proved to be beneficial if I had trouble understanding a portion of the chapter I could come with questions. I entered this class knowing that my performance and understanding of the information relied heavily on my entrance into the PTA program. Becoming a PTA is so important to me that it kept me driven to have a complete understanding of the material, even when it was most difficult.…

One of the most important thing I have learned in this course that has positively affected my confidence in my writing skills is the concept of writing a “shitty first draft”. In my midterm self-assessment, I discussed how I thought I was among one of the unlucky ones that was not blessed with natural writing skills. However, through class discussions, I’ve learned that one of the most important competent of professional writing is the need for constant revision. Contrary to popular believe, writing does not come easy to anyone. In order to successfully produce professional writing, it is important that one plan, draft, revise, and edit his or her work.…

I am from an inherently rural area. I had little to know experience with ELLs until I came to Juniata. In cities, anywhere you go you are bound to meet an ELL, but in my town I only knew one, the Italian old lady who owns the OIP. With the low incidence of ELLs in my area I never really thought about the lack of resources we have to help them. Some important things to think about are the teacher’s lack of ELL experience in low incidence ELL areas, instructional methods, use of the primary language, and the affect of afterschool programs.…

I am not a journalist; I am a screenwriter, but like you, I have an affinity for writing because it is a fine art, like sculpting or painting. In college, I was a political science major, and I loved it because every course taught me something new and exciting about the structure of governments, the ideologies of foreign countries, or the norms and customs of any given culture. Whether I was documenting the plight of African American children in the South or the rise of the Islamic Republic in Iran, I enjoyed telling stories. I believe journalism requires first-rate storytelling ability, because if the truth is distorted so is the integrity of the journalist. Conveying emotions in an honest and creative manner is a special skill, and anybody who loves the craft of writing understands that cutting through the black and white, is what makes the relationship between author and reader so sacred.…

Before I came to Kisling Non-Commissioned Officer Academy (NCOA), I thought of myself as a good leader with certain traits and aspects. I believe that if I take care of my airmen, that they’ll take care of me by completing work orders, squadron objectives, or any future events without question. It wasn’t until I attended NCOA, that I was able to put concept names to the leadership traits that I had. For example, I would put aside my self-interest for the good of the work center because I wanted my guys to know that I have their best interest at heart. Which turns out to be part of transformational leader idealized influence.…

I’m happy with my writing skills but I obviously do see a need for improvement. I could improve greatly on procrastination and sentence structures. I certainly will strive to keep focused on the topic and to write as if it comes naturally to me so that I can write papers without worrying about too many things. In the end, I feel I am a hair above average when it comes to writing about topics because I think in a very mature way and it feels like a blessing in this age we live in. I hate to compare myself to others because as people we are all incredibly different from one another…

Reflection When signing up to take the Final Project Course this fall I was extremely nervous and not excited to start. Walking into the first day of class and learning more about what the final project would entail, I did feel slightly better but still scared that it was going to be too overwhelming and hard to complete by myself. Luckily, the individual meetings and emails with my professor made everything much more clear and inviting. These final project meetings were very helpful in terms of receiving constructive criticism and then going back home to make changes to the paper.…
