Childhood Hobby Research Paper

Can you remember your childhood hobby? Mine consisted of rock collecting and creating “inventions.” My childhood hobbies were replaced as I grew older, but I am pleased to announce that there is another child in my house that has a hobby. It is not uncommon to smell something baking in my kitchen’s oven considering that my mother is a fantastic cook, but she is not always the head chef nowadays. My ten-year-old sister is preparing meals and making batches of cookies for pleasure. I can tell how passionate my little sister is about making food and if you were to ask her her hobby, she would proudly tell you baking. Most of us are not a ten-year-old with a mass amount of time on our hands, but we all are humans that need to have an escape from our “normal” lives. A hobby creates a diversion in life and is a unique way to tap into your creativity, interact with new social environments, and build your self-esteem.

That is because school and work take up a majority of our time and restricts us from discovering new materials of our own personal interest. Leisure time can be hard to come by but has an immense impact of our personalities. What people do in their leisure time strongly defines them so it is crucial to not misuse it. People who are more likely to be less productive, like those who spend hours in front of the television, tend to have a duller mind than productive people. That is because productive people create new neural pathways by challenging the brain, which results in a more creative mind. On the other end of the spectrum are the less productive people who spend less time formulating their own thoughts and ideas, resulting in less creativity.
