Graduation Speech: Able To Control The Type Of Music

I want to be able to be in control of the type of music and the volume of music played in my car. I need to convince Andrew Dennis Moore to stop controlling the music when he rides in my car. I will discuss the issue outside my locked car. I will begin the discussion after school, because I usually give him a ride to his job after school.
True friendship to me is a relationship that cannot be broken or damaged by a disagreement, but in return is made stronger and closer than before. My dear friend Andrew, I believe we have this type of relationship. We’ve been friends since kindergarten, and over the years our friendship has grown stronger and stronger. Well, I hope that is the case here too, you see you have this habit that sort of gets at me. Your habit is that you sort of take control of the music played in my car, the volume of it, and how long we listen to a certain song.
Andrew, I know that most of the time the radio plays very unsatisfying music. A lot of the music played on the radio is for people who don’t really care about the importance of the true meaning behind the lyrics they listen to or the ones they write. I know you don’t like that kind of music, and I completely sympathize with you. I enjoy most of the music you listen to and admire you for not following the crowd. Having said that, I don’t agree with you taking complete control

You always change the song in the middle of it. We’ll be listening to a good song, but you seem to get bored of it and you just change the song without asking anybody else if it is okay. I like finishing songs. It might be a weird quirk of mine, but I don’t feel right if you just change the song halfway through it. It eats at me all day; the song is continuously plays in my head and won’t stop. I would appreciate it a lot if you would just be a ware of this before you turn the song in the middle next

In the twenty-first century we tend to distract ourselves with technology that keeps us from taking the time to genuinely think, or rather that is what twenty one pilots want you to see. “Car Radio,” written by Tyler Joseph of twenty one pilots, is based from a personal experience Joseph had where his car radio was stolen and the experiences that followed. It, and the associated music video, produce the argument that we need to spend more of our lives in silence rather than surrounded by sound. The rhetoric of twenty one pilot’s “Car Radio” is effective because of emotional appeals to ethos, logos, and pathos. Twenty one pilots establish their credibility by placing themselves in a place of power and control in their music video for “Car Radio.”…

“Why Rap Rules and Rock Is in a Rutt,” by Robin Davey, expresses a common view among youth today: Rap music is in and Rock N’ Roll is out. Davey believes that Rock music has lost its gusto and should make way for the more relevant genre of Rap. Although I agree that Rap music is more popular and culturally relevant to our current society, I strongly disagree with Davey in regards to Rock’s inevitable demise. One of Davey’s attitudes towards Rock throughout his editorial expresses that it is a genre of music that has become spoiled and unauthentic.…

There is always an immense amount of pressure to conform and to not be different, making sure to stay with the current “style” along the way. In the novelette, Anthem by Ayn Rand everyone in society is exactly the same and follow a certain set of rules very strictly. While, in the song “It’s Still Rock And Roll To Me” by Billy Joel, he sings about the the pressure he is given for being different. I, as a listener, can relate to this due to the fact that there is pressure towards me, from family and friends, to join a sport or another activity, which I do not want to do as I enjoy other things. This song, from Billy Joel, is the sole definition of individuality, and I, as a listener, follow that definition, and do as is needed for me to enjoy…

Aaron Copland illustrates the difference between songs and music in his essay, “How We Listen.” There are certain songs and music that will mean the same thing every time someone listens to the songs or music, which will eventually become “dull music”; however, there are also other songs and music whose “meaning is slightly different with each hearing, [which will have] a greater chance of remaining alive” (Copland 2). Songs that become dull with each hearing are often the ones that are overplayed on the radio; they also have repetitive and generic elements. Essentially, the dull songs “always say the same thing” or are similar to the songs sung by previous artists. (Copland 2).…
