Music is one of the very few things that ties the human race together. Everybody knows what music is. Music is any vocal or instrumental noise that produces harmony. Almost everybody listens to music daily, whether it is actual music or rather enjoyable noises in the background. Music is everywhere, at groceries stores, dressing rooms, classrooms, elevators, restaurants, etc. It’s as if music were to follow everyone around wherever they went. An average American listens to music for about 4 hours a day (Stutz). What a lot of people do not know is the history of music, how it has changed, and the science behind music. According to an article in EmedExpert.com people do better in visual and memory activities when music is playing opposed to those who do the activities in silence (Cooper). Classical music is used for many of these activities. This may explain why teachers play classical music when students are taking tests. On the emotional side of view, music affects the way people see neutral faces. The brain turns neutral faces into a sad or happy face. It all depends on what type of song the person is listening to. If they are listening to a sad song, they will most likely see the neutral face as a sad face and vice versa with happy songs (Cooper). It has been around ever since we were around. In the beginning it was just noises. Those noises changed into music. Music changed into musical instruments. Then came all the singers and bands. Music was once super inspirational and meaningful, but then the 2000’s happened. As the generation changes, music changes with it. Nobody had a clue that music would have impacted the world the way it did. Not only is it a pleasure to listen to and dance to. It is also super beneficial to the human race in multiple ways. Music affects the way people see, both physically and emotionally. Whether it helps people in a memory game or makes them see the world and others differently with the song they are listening to. Music affects the way people feel, whether it is a reflection of how they feel or is helpful when it comes to understanding other people 's emotions. It also improves the way people do physical activities. Whether it helps people in a sport like volleyball, or instrument playing like a clarinet.
