The memory of music is really important and special. “I began to hear something truly remarkable, and it is called music" (pg. 157). This is a quote from the Giver who has experienced music before and understands how music is very special. The Giver first wanted to keep this memory to himself. Discovering the memory of music has affected the Giver. This proves that because the memory of music is special, it is why Lowry has saved music to be the very last memory that Jonas will receive. He was super close to giving up. The cold is bothering him; Jonas is slowly freezing to death. When he hears the music coming from the house up ahead, it gives him hope, the hope that there are other people in the house waiting.
