The music and video piracy is a controversial and bias topic that has arouses a myriad discussions in courts. Nowadays, music downloading and peer-to-peer file-sharing are practices that have increased in giant steps as a result of the emerging technologies. The constant innovation of the websites and software has impacted the music and video industry in a way that thousands of norms and regulations have been created in order to protect others’ works, and prevent copyright infringement. The recording industry blames peer-to-peer file sharing for declining music sales and has manifested their discomfort through ads, lobbying campaign, lawsuits against file-sharing companies, and lawsuits against individual users of pee-to pee software. However, it is imperative to emphasize and make clear the fact that peer-to-peer technology itself is not illegal, nor is using the technology to make fair uses to share copyrighted materials designated for sharing, or to share materials in the public domain. The amount of people who breaks these rules, intentionally or not, is constantly growing; and it might not stop while there are manners to download it.
