Previous studies show that music can be used as a motivational tool when people exercise or play sports. Music was also found to give effectto the feelings, self-esteem and confidence of the exercisers and also increase the production of imagery. Music stimulates exercisers to continue exercising while dissociating from the exertive sensations from their body (Karageorghis, 2010). It has also recently been used to augment athletic performance. Music cannot be used in a tournament because music will boost athlete’s performance if they listen to the music, however they can listen to music while they wait for their event and also after their event for recovery.

Music and sport are purposefully related to each other at modern-day events with professional disc jockeys often hired to make appropriate selections to rouse the players or engage the crowd. Most teamshave adopted their own anthems or signature tunes which increase team identity and the sense of cohesion. According to Brooks & Brooks (2010), music can be heard at any major sporting event or in any exercise facility. Music during sporting events or exercise can represent or express the individuality of the participant, motivate the participant, or add excitement to the atmosphere. It can be inspirational to some.
