Mr Dubore Reflection

Improved Essays
As I am sitting in the cold, frigid, choir room, I am focused on my choir director, Mr. DeBore, who is wearing khaki dress pants with a light blue dress shirt, and a blue and tan designed tie. Behind him is a bright green wall covered with posters of cheat-sheets with different subject matter we cover in class and see in our sheet music every day. As he begins to start warm ups, like we do every morning, a thought comes to his mind and as usual, he trails off to a totally different topic. It was getting close to ACTs and student testing; it was my freshman year, and I haven’t taken these tests before so I was freaking out, as I usually do about tests and I needed to do good on it. Mr. DeBore was giving us tips on how to do well on the tests …show more content…
Every day, I wish I was still there to get many more “lectures of wisdom,” as we called them. Throughout my high school career, he was one of the few teachers that took the extra time to find ways to help students and connect with them on more than just a student-teacher level. Unlike my other teachers, Mr. DeBore has helped me strengthen my literacy skills and helped with many struggles I had through my experiences at Joliet West more than I’ve been able to do on my own. He helped me realize how through my music, my brain could function more efficiently and help me stay focused when I was working on writing and even reading. Ever since I was a little girl I struggled with focusing on reading and writing but now I have a joy for it than I have ever before. Once I heard this lecture, I not only used it when I am taking tests but also when I write papers and sometimes …show more content…
As we were decorating the house, my sister and I were putting up ornaments onto the tree as my mom was organizing the lights out of the big, blue, plastic box with a grey piece of duct tape labeled “Lights.” There was evergreen tree sent in the air along with the Heffron Family Cheesecake cooking in the oven. We were listening to a new version of “Santa Baby” by the country artist Kelly Pickler. My sister and I spent more time singing and dancing to the song than decorating the tree. This part of the season is a major part of my life because it’s always happy. I’ve struggled with focus and concentrating problems throughout my life and music helps me stay focused through the day. Especially during finals week during the end of the semester, I have always studied with music because it helps and coming home to music around the house is keeps me focused and my mood stable. Thanks for getting that break from studying for my biology final, and dancing to music with my sister, it made me stop stressing about it. When I started studying again, it made me understand the concepts even better and the next day, I got a B on the

So he decided to call the students one by one but of course he was basing himself on the roster that he had. Indeed my turned came, and he told me that sadly I didn’t pass, and that he was sad because, he knew that I was a good student that he doesn’t know what happened to me. So yes the next semester came around, and it’s like this if you don’t pass it they right away give you a retaining class which that pretty much means that you didn’t pass the test, and in the other hand you’re going to waste another half semester in a retaining class instead of you taking another, class that it could be really useful, or one that you just simply need. Well long story short I finally walked in, and I actually got a pretty nice teacher that he could actually controlled the classes that he had. Well indeed, finally the day of the exam came over, and I simply told myself that I could do it that I simply just had to read it carefully, and just simply had to take my time, and this time I was going to pass because, I had a really good teacher, and…

I recently had the chance to listen to an entertaining lecture by Dr. Wes Pilkington. As he began talking, I could tell that his speech was going to be somewhat different than those I had heard before him. While he did not do a residency and was not extensively involved in leaderships roles like many of our other speakers, he has still found success after graduation. Although these activities are both important, he highlighted the significance of our rotations. He also offered us a unique perspective on the dangers of pharmacy, as he was the victim of a pharmacy robbery.…

Since I don’t fail often and am generally used to success, the times I have failed make a prodigious impression on me. I am a choir kid.…

The proctor did walk over to our desks, and he did see the paper, but when I looked down to confirm the papers location, it wasn’t there. It was hiding in between the pages of Dan’s test booklet, as if he had seen my integrity and my ambitions collide, and realised that my integrity mattered more to me than any score ever could. He looked at me and smiled. I smiled back, confident that I had made the right choice. I chose not to cheat, even when the tool to do it was right there in front of me, even when I had so much to lose.…

The main issue is being able to correctly market to the intended audience in an effective and price efficient way. Especially with there being such a strong contingency with the CareFirst grant. My goal was to make sure I fully understand the project and the aspect I needed to address in my collaterals. I did this by taking the time to research all aspects of DoctorsTelemed and the needs of my audience, and then tie the two aspects together. I didn’t start making my project in till I felt confident in my research of addressing uninsured college student’s needs in regards to health care.…

I anxiously looked out the window at the familiar sites: cows grazing, tractors roaring, and palmetto bushes gently swaying in the summer breeze. Then, the classroom door squeaked. A statuesque woman walked in, Mrs. Able, our new teacher. She smiled and immediately announced: “You can do anything in life, as long as you want to learn and care about others!” Mrs. Able, while not the last teacher to inspire me, was the first.…

It was the night of September 28th and I could not sleep. I was so nervous because the next morning I had my audition for North Carolina High-School Honors Choir. Although I practiced for weeks and sang for my chorus teacher countless times, I never knew of what could have happened in my five minute audition. I would have to warm up and sing an excerpt of the audition piece “Sing Ye to the Lord.” Then I would have 60 seconds to study an 8-measure line of sight singing.…
