Morals are the deeper meaning behind what is being told, and often the main point the audience is supposed to take away from the story. Many stories have a clear and obvious moral behind them, while other stories have more than one moral and the audience really has to strain their brain to find out what it is. When Mamad arrived at the palace the king asked Mamad if it was true that he never lied. Mamad told the king it is true and that he is sure that he never will lie.
The king did not believe that he will never lie, so he decided to try to trick Mamad into Lying. A few days later, the king asked for Mamad again. Given these points, I believe that literacy narratives have more of a positive influence on students rather than a negative one. Literacy narratives tend to be really useful for the fact that the writer can voice their academic experiences freely without being burdened with stress about not having a right answer. Also, these specific narratives allow the readers to connect with the writers through the piece. The readers are able to see how the writer develops who they are based on what actions were being taken to overcome the academic challenge. At the same time, the reader can see what skills or appreciation the writer has gained from their academic struggle.…

Reaction Paper - The Things They Carried - Tim O’Brien “The Things They Carried” is interesting in the fact that it is a collection of short stories as opposed to a single story. I think this is interesting because most war stories I have read focus on a single thought, usually a moral, that holds strong throughout the reading. When reading this I felt that the reason why he chose to write a collection of stories was because there were many things he wanted to express, not just one overarching idea. While I did note a common theme of disapproval towards war in many of the stories, I feel that this was not what he was writing about, but rather something that was present in the stories, like the war itself. I found many of the characters held important roles in each of the stories they appeared in, most of whom I could relate to, such as Kiowa.…

People all over the world tend to toss their morals aside in order to conform to the influences of society or a higher superior. However, people below the chain of authority, especially the youth, struggle the most in attempt to triumph over these types of situations. Although conformity often helps society function correctly, there becomes a problem when a person’s identity becomes too infatuated within a higher authority that they disregard their own personal morals. So why in a society principled in independence and freewill do people eagerly toss morals aside in order to conform to a superior? It seems as if even though the face of morality does not disappear, individuals still willingly set their beliefs aside in order to please an authority figure.…

Scientist has connected our moral philosophy to our cultural story telling. In the University of California, neuroscientist Michael Gazzaniga stated “cause and effect story which helps us get a sense of who we are, and how to cope with life and the unexpected”(Rosenstand 55). In a sense, story telling can give a person 's a sense of excitement and thrill, not to mention, in any story it has a purpose or a moral to it. For example, the story of the boy who cry wolf, where a shepherd boy would make a false acquisition about wolf attacking the sheep and the town people would believe him and try to defend the sheep from the wolf, but to find out that the boy was lying, so eventually the town people stop listening to the boy and one day a pack of wolf appeared and the boy called for help but no one showed up and he eventually got eaten by the wolf. So, the moral of the story is to never lie because if you do, then no one will believe in…
