The Importance Of Moral Standards In Malaysia

Have you ever wondered why is morality is a crucial element that we as a human being must have within ourselves? Ever since young, we are cultivated with morality and our parents have taught us to be a moral mankind, that we must always do the good things and do not do the bad things. When I was as a kid, I always perceived others as a moral person like I am regardless of their races, age, gender etc. However, as I grow and mature, I realise my perception towards others is not objective anymore, most of the people surrounding me I know is actually not what they are supposed to be as how I think of them. Moral standards ae the norms about the kinds of action that are morally right and wrong, as well as the value placed on what is morally good or bad. There are five characteristics of moral standards. First, it involves significant in injuries or benefits. Second, moral standards are not established by authority figures. Third, moral standards should be preferred to other values including self-interest. Fourth, moral standards are based on impartial considerations. Lastly, moral standards are associated with special emotions and vocabulary. As a Malaysian, we live in a multicultural society, with the three mains races which are Malays, Chinese, and Indians. And in this coming 31st August 2015, we are going to celebrate our 58th National Day after Malaysia gained its independence from British colonization. Many other people have wondered, what is key to preserving a harmony and peaceful of multiracial country? In my opinion, respect is the main key to this. Ever since young, we were taught to respect people regardless of their age, gender, race etc. In our Malaysia society, respecting others is a must moral values because it reflects a person’s attitude. We should respect each other and should be respected by others to show our humanity as we live in a society. Almost everyone has been hurt and has hurt others by their words and actions. Maybe we were scolded by our parents when we broke some vases or we scolded someone when we were angry.
