When privacy is one of the most desired needs and the Internet is the most used and easily accessed innovations, there comes a problem. How can what one does online be private from the world and government? More important, should it be hidden? In the past, what one wanted to keep private, was and stayed as such. As the Internet was created, thousands of files of personal information suddenly became easily accessible to any sort of hacker with the right set of skills or potential monitoring by the government. It is a common debate of how much control the government should possess when monitoring the internet. However, people should also know the risk of uploading and sharing content on the internet. Therefore, the government--federal, state, and local--should have complete and free reign to monitor internet content because it is the choice of the internet user …show more content…
First, once a post is uploaded online, it is no longer in ownership of the internet user; therefore in no way does it violate a person's right to privacy. Second, monitoring the internet can help save lives. The government monitoring the internet can help foresee threats before they happen, that way, proper action is taken beforehand. It should not be a question of whether or not it is the duty of the government to monitor the internet, but even so, there is so much more at stake. The monitoring of the internet can and will save lives every single day; that is what is really important. The government has the duty to protect the citizens of America in every way, and in an increasingly tech-savvy world, monitoring the internet is one of those ways. At the end of the day the question should not be whether or not the government should monitor internet content, rather, it should be how can technology adapt to make the monitoring of the internet that much easier in order to protect our country and all those who's lives are at
