Great Essays
The constant motion of humanity is sometimes a captivating and beautiful phenomenon, but in other times it is just another display of stress’ effect on the modern world. Life is a vessel of ups and downs, beginnings and endings; success and failure that all people must endure. Throughout history, people simply had to make the means called to survive. Now, society advocates so much more due to the advancements within civilization. The world echoes its call for individuals to succeed, prosper, and change the world. First, application of time effectiveness skills has been undermined as a common factor of busyness, despite the stress habit that is produced from it. To illustrate, the average student is supposed to grasp concepts in the hopes of earning a high score when their knowledge is assessed. This is the general conjecture of education among students. Why? Because, in all honesty, making a “passing grade” is all modern education requires to move to a different level of learning. Therefore, memorization, cramming, and rushed completion are deemed proper strategies. With those methods, a student still has a chance to get a passing grade without spending a great deal of their own time. But, studying in that manner is often a means of last resort when the student has simply run out of time. For whatever the reason, the use of their time was not adequately employed to their studies. “One of the greatest sources of stress is over-commitment or poor time management” (“Stress”, utexas.edu). In the other extreme, people who try to accomplish …show more content…
Stress is an inevitable phenomenon for virtually everyone. Strenuous challenges are to not only be prepared for, but also expected, unless someone lives in a hole. It is necessary for individuals to have someone they can talk with about their lives, not in the hopes to just gain advice, but more importantly to prevent an increase inward emotions to an overflow. For others, they may find their freedom from the world in worshiping a heavenly Father or painting lilies upon a canvas. Humans have an inherited nature to find something that voices their souls. Without it, they become chained to a mind ruptured with a tight heaviness. “The fundamental problem is not the external stress, such as the life events quoted in the studies, but an environmentally conditioned helplessness that permits neither of the normal responses of fight or flight. The resulting internal stress becomes repressed and therefore invisible” (Maté 20). One does not have to search for people suffering from an inability to somehow be rid of stress which has stemmed from trying circumstances. Sadly, not all people have a companion to pour out their brokenness to or find confidence in a gifting they can convey meaning through. The handicapped veteran soldier’s only sense of alleviating loneliness may be to drown himself in the taste of liquor. An orphan might count the stars through the window beside her bed to lull her

Students in high schools had teachers instructing and advising them on what, how, and when to do their schoolwork; however, in university students have the freedom and each one is responsible for him/her self. Although majority of students enjoy this lack of restrictions at first, but several feel overwhelmed, confused, and find difficulties in making decisions, taking responsibilities, and finishing all the work they were assigned with. Lastly, few students fail some classes due to a combination of their inability to adapt to the fast-paced life of undergraduates, their nonexistent time management skills, and procrastination as well as all of the problems mentioned…

Over the last few years I have heard a common concern arise regarding the stress levels of people in our country, and at the onset I initially placed a lot of responsibility on things such as technology, employers, and the demands of society. Yet, as I pondered this issue, and as more news reports and articles populated about people being their own contributor to stress, I started scrutinizing not only my own life, but also observing others. Our culture has seemed to breed the idea that humans are to glorify status, stuff, and schedules, rather than glorify the Creator of all. In the book titled, Emotionally Healthy Spirituality (2006), Peter Scazzero discussed the previously held notion of crafting a rule of life, with the hopes that one…

The other day as I was dozing off in my first hour chemistry class yet again, I thought to myself, “why am I in this class if I have absolutely no desire to learn about science in the world?” America’s modern day education system is broken; it lacks true freedom. No teenager wants to be stuck in a classroom being forced to memorize pointless facts about a subject that will take them nowhere with their desired career. The main idea of our education system is that kids should be able to choose what they learn in order to work toward their dream job. Today, however, students have been stripped of their educational freedom and stuck in many classes they have absolutely no interest in.…

Humans will do almost anything in order to achieve happiness. From ancient Mesopotamian civilizations to Nazi Germany in the mid 20th Century, striving for a utopian society, has been a common thread throughout the course of history, Yet the lingering question in the back of everyone's mind is how to achieve this happiness and if it is actually fulfilling. With the drive behind human actions in mind, it is no wonder that disarray and chaos are prominent wherever people are present: selfishness reigns as king on the throne of mankind's heart. Seeking to tackle questions involving human nature and societal structures, William Golding and George Orwell exhort the same themes in their novels Lord of the Flies and Animal Farm respectively. Both…

The better part of my time in high school was spent in a little coffee shop and bakery, called Dough Ray Me. The shop was a cute place, with twinkling fairy lights that draped from the ceiling like sails on an unearthly ship. Moving down from the ceiling were the walls, which were littered with either coffee, or Christian themed artwork. Below the walls were shelves that housed sizable jugs of an assortment of coffee beans. The glass cabinets, containing shortbreads, cupcakes, and cookies, met with the stainless steel counters around the barista’s workspace in a minimalistic fashion.…

Frequently, I found it problematic to permit enough time to work on assignments, resulting in barley missing deadlines. Imperative to studying on-line classes, one must utterly become dedicated to studying and completing work, to receive a good grade. This was my principal struggle, learning how to balance work, school, family and personal time. It often converted to chaos, but by Week 3, I was able to prioritize and schedule events accordingly. With this in mind, I formed a precise agenda to work solely on my essays, and as I began to integrate this new schedule, which abetted time to focus on the dynamics of my essay…

Depression is a severe disorder that replaces the jubilant liveliness of youth with melancholy, lethargic emotions. Affecting 20% of teenagers, this mental illness is not something to take light heartedly. Its effects dramatically decrease the pleasure of life, as its victims lose hope for the future and interest in the activities they once enjoyed. Contrary to what appears to be a reasonable assumption, those of higher socioeconomic status are not “immune” to depression. Money is not always a source for happiness, but in fact, can be the cause of an onset of mental disorders.…

The Value of Good Time Management Skills Some aspects of life cannot be classified with a numerical rate, such as the value of good time management skills. Although this is true, most would agree that being able to manage time is a dynamic skill and extremely important. As stated by Ronald G. Leach (1980), “There is no such thing as lack of time. In a real sense we all have time for those things we want to make time for.…

I would say that I learned the most about what it really means to have time management after this semester. Entering my first semester of college I had blind faith in the University, and myself because I believe everything would just work out and I would pass because it was meant to be. However, fate and hope are no the things to help you life as a new college student. The drive to wake up, attend class, finish homework, and accept the new responsibility that had been placed in my novice hands diminished greatly as the non-academic temptations became to creep in my head. I must be honest with you and let you know that I did cave and willingly participate in the sweet release of social experiences.…

Several studies show that the most valuable and important time commitment in a course was the time actually spent in the classroom.(Schiming) Some other valuable and important time commitments included the time spent in discussion sections that complemented the lectures, and the time spent studying outside of class preparing for the class itself.(Schiming) That study concluded that the most productive time spent in any course was in the classroom; and that time had the greatest positive impact on the students’ performance. Another study of similar motives was taken on the most significant activities the impacted the students’ performance in any given course. The results of that study showed the idea that the most important learning takes place in the classroom and that students who do a conscientious job on a daily basis preparing for and participating in class perform better than students who skip class and try to cram for exams.(Schiming)…
