The Importance Of Mistakes In My Life

Improved Essays
I have made many mistakes in my life. For every mistake there is a lesson that can be learned. My biggest and most recent mistake has been getting into a relationship. The relationship turned out to be unhealthy. This being because my ex and I were both unstable people trying to help each other get back on our feet. Unfortunate things like this make me a stronger person and got me to where I am today. Last year I met a guy who I wouldn’t have expected to have dated. Although, the first time we hung out I knew there was something special about him. One of the things about him I liked was that he is a musician. Every week we would go to karaoke and open mic night at a local restaurant. Also, we would play baseball together almost every day. In the beginning of the relationship things were good. For the rest of the summer I was in a neck brace. This gave me a lot of time to think. Now that I was single again I could worry about bettering myself. Feeling like I had ruined to many job opportunities, I decided to go back to school. Before school started I needed to get help. I took a much-needed retreat to Butler Hospital. I spent 17 days there trying to get back in the right state of mind. Now I am continuing treatment with weekly therapy and medication. Also, I am back in school taking 5 classes full-time. Things couldn’t be any better at this present moment in time. Making a mistake isn’t always a bad thing. Mistakes allow you to learn from them. Additionally, you can turn a bad thing into a good thing. After my accident, I turned it into a positive experience. I am more mindful than ever. Worrying about the past and future had always been a problem of mine, until now. Maintaining a full schedule gives me no choice but to worry about the present. My unhealthy relationship opened my eyes and made me a stronger person. All there is to now is work hard everyday towards a better

The biggest mistake I would say that I have made in high school has been becoming less active in our local HOSA chapter. My freshman and sophomore year, I was a notoriously active member in HOSA, participating in ever service project, competing in district and state competitions, and arranging school events. However, my junior year I began my employment and faced the most difficult classes I had ever faced; my attendance to meetings began to dwindle and I eventually found myself becoming an inactive member. I wish, instead of getting my job, I continued my active role in HOSA. I loved my job but my experiences with HOSA were more beneficial to my future.…

It was a beautiful Friday night in early September with high school football in full swing. All at once an ordinary, routine football play changed my outlook on the high school experience and life in general. Many people struggle with the thought of failing, though failing is not the real thing you should be worried about, but rather the actions taken afterwards to improve your wrongs. Biologist Lewis Thomas describes this as being “ the very base of human thought, embedded there, feeding the structure like root nodules.” Without the mistake there is nothing to grow from and expand your knowledge on. If you were to get everything correct at all times there would be nothing to educate yourself with after the fact, making the reaction to be considered worthless. The beginning of mistakes is the beginning to a new solution that has not been discovered yet.…
