There are many scenarios in which the Child is permitted to go to school, but since they live in a remote area going to school is too far. Many parents worry for their children’s safety on route to school and therefore girls are even more discouraged to go to school, since the risk of becoming victims of assault is high. In order to remedy this growing problem, Village Bicycle Project was created, worldwide with specific interest in Africa. Through VBP, children now have access to distant schools and have a safe system to go back and forth from school to home. A safety measure was created by VBP in which a carpool system is authorized; this includes organizing a minimum group of 10 children and 1 adult supervisor who will guide them to school. With large groups of children going to school while supervised by an adult, it not only ensures the children safety but encourages students to attend school daily. VBP has proven to be a huge benefactor to children’s education, since 1999 it has supported over 90,000 families with bicycles and taught 15, 000 new owners’ bike repair skills. In order to ensure the quality of the bikes so children can attend school daily, VBP also provides training for bike repairers; the workshops are free and permit the member to buy the bicycles at 10% of the market price. With such high number of people being impacted, United Nations food program is a sure-fire method of creating a world of universal primary education.
