Noted scientist Charles Darwin once said, " It is not the strongest of the most intelligent who will survive but those who can best manage change." This quote is inspiring to me because all my life I have dealt with constant change, and it has structured the person I am today. As a result of my family’s military background, I have learned the importance of adapting to different environments, financial stability, and trust. I have always lived the military life, my parents were enlisted in the Air Force for 23 years. During that time we were stationed at Lakenheath Air Force Base, England, where I was born and lived there for ten years. Then we moved to Andrews Air Force Base, Maryland shortly before my parents retired. Now, my husband, Kevin, is a warrant officer in the Army and has been enlisted for over 14 years. When we moved to the Andrews Air Force Base we lived in the base hotel until housing became available. During that time the military would pay up to two weeks for the stay at the hotel but anything longer would be my parent 's responsibility. The cost of the hotel was $400 per week, and the cost of living was higher than England, which put my parents in a financial bind. We lived in the hotel for 3 months until finally moving into base housing. After living on base for a few years my parents had a house built in Waldorf, Maryland. No matter how bad of a struggle, my parents always made things work. Shortly after my husband and I got married, we bought a house. The closing cost and other expenses were an eye opener on how critical it is to save every penny. While we lived in New York our son, Dylan was born. We experienced another eye opener by discovering how expensive everything was including childcare. Now knowing the importance of being a homeowner and a parent, my husband and I stick to a
