America, a nation where if people are willing to work hard can make a good life for themselves. We are not a perfect country, but what we have is worth fighting for. When men women no longer serve our country that is when our nation will fall. Memorial day is a day to recognize life lost and saved lives. America is protected by the blood of soldiers that give up their lives so that we may be free. General John Mattis of the United States Marine Corps once said “ you signed blank checks payable with your lives to the American people.” This statement symbolizes the moment when a man or woman takes that pen and signs those papers for entrance into the military.
