My grandparents told me that in the old days, students were not allowed to ask teacher when in doubt, or even start a discussion in class. The only thing students were responsible for was to follow the teacher. The method was different too. It required a lot of memorization and very little analyzation. Tests were about what you know, not what or how you think. This education system made a good follower, but not a good leader, since the student was not allowed to be completely on his or her own. These days things are different. We are able to ask our teacher and we are allowed to join an open discussion in class. We are allowed to express ourselves as long as our thoughts harm nobody. It is not regarded as a miserable and shameful thing to do anymore. A number of our tests ask us how we think, based on what we know (with little of what we have memorized), which stimulates our creativity and confidence. Besides, technologies like computers and internet are engaged in class to help us learn better. We understand mathematics better with a mathematical program on a computer, showing real-time graph plotting. We conduct experiments in our laboratory and see the chemical process with our own eyes. We might not memorize things better than our grandparents, but we are smarter than them when it comes to creativity and
