She was so happy and loved the Florida sun. I got a job as a dietary aid in a Senior Citizens Home. In this home there were many people with Alzheimer’s and Dementia. Even though I never worked with elderly people or with these diseases, I was still very happy to help and learn about it. I had spent most of my life helping my grandmother, so I felt very confident about the job. I worked there for 11/2 and saw so many different things going on with the residents, some good and some bad. The way people treated the elderly was shocking. I then thought about my grandmother who had spent so many years in a nursing home, and she was still so full of life. One day my grandmother became ill. My mother took my grandmother to the doctors and found out that she had kidney disease. It was so bad that both her kidneys were full of stone’s. She had to have surgery right away to remove them. We had no idea that she was this sick because the nursing home never told us. We then immediately got her to a doctor’s and tried to save her by sending her into surgery to remove the stone’s. She had a bad infection hidden in the stones that went into her blood system and took her life quickly. This could have all been avoided if we were notified by the nursing home that she was
