I researched where the matriculate students of 2016 from a various number of different schools went on matric vacation at the end of the year. I interviewed the matriculate students from these schools: Holy Rosary School, Saint Benedict’s College, Saint John’s College and Saint Andrew’s School. Density
Densely populated towns will have central places more nucleated. A sparsely populated area will have central places more spread out.

2. Regularity
Places that are almost uniform have the central places almost the same distance apart.

Hierarchy of Central Places
Each central place has different functions, which has its own range and threshold and therefore own sphere of influence. They are ranked based on their ability to distribute goods and services.
• Metropolises,
• Regional cities,
• Towns,
• Villages, and
• Hamlets

Lower order functions mean more good and services are used frequently therefore they are located closer to home therefore having a low threshold and range. Higher order functions are more specified goods and services and are used less frequently and are located further from home therefore having a high threshold and range. (P.Oosthuizen 2016)

Therefore settlements have lots of lower order functions and fewer high order
