The Importance Of Maths In Education

Teachers have the ability to teach the minds and touch the hearts through their actions. The care a teacher displays towards a students wellbeing can influence a students overall progress and motivation in a particular subject. As a future educator I hope that I can influence and instill this type of mindset within my students. However, I am knowledgeable that students comprehend at different levels and times over the course of a unit. Math is content area that many students struggle with because the concepts are abstract for young learners. When students do not succeed in a particular topic they become discouraged. Math is an important concept for students to learn and have an understanding of; therefore, as a teacher it is my duty to change these students perception of math. The students the program is directed for will be a small group of students who need additional support in mathematics. It will be recommended that students receive additional support in this area due to baseline assessment examinations in the beginning of the year. This group is in need of a switch on how they perceive math. Through early intervention students may be able to change their negative perspective of math and learn to value the subject. In order to have students achieve this emotion towards they must feel motivated to make the change and through appropriate direction students will be able to. In order for students to be life long learners in mathematics, they must have a solid foundation to build and enhance their skills in the future. This program will provide students with that foundation and make them confident in their mathematical abilities in order to progress and further their comprehension and growth as
