The Baby Booming Era

Our goal is to communicate to our target market using mass media marketing. Many of the people who were born during the baby boomers era currently live in a world where the media has a large impact on consumer’s decision making. Many of them use media for entertainment such as watching television, to stay updated on news by reading newspapers, and to stay connected with friends and family by using Facebook, Twitter, etc. Using social media such as Facebook, and Twitter is something that majority of the people after the baby booming era use, but the people from the baby booming era are slowly catching on and starting to use these social media outlets too to stay in touch. By advertising through these various media outlets we have the potential …show more content…
One of our main marketing channels for advertising will be through the television. Many of these baby boomers watch their television every day whether it be watching the news, sports, or just a regular sitcom. By placing our advertisements on these same channels we have a great chance at reaching potential consumers. For example we will place our advertisements on channels such as CP24, TSN Sportscentre, and CBC, three channels which majority of these television viewers would watch a lot. Another media source we would use for our advertisements is the newspapers. These baby boomers grew up in an era where they had to read the newspaper to find out the latest news. Even though the television also came out and they watch it, a lot old habits die hard and a lot of these baby boomers still read the newspaper even if they have CP24. A lot of these baby boomers who use public transit to commute would also read the newspaper a lot during their rides, seeing as they have newspaper stands at most bus stops or train stops. Knowing this we will make sure our second main media source is the newspaper. By placing our ads in well-known newspapers we can attract many potential consumers. For example if we were to market in the Toronto area we would place our advertisements in newspapers such as the Toronto Star, or Toronto Metro, two big names that many people read on a daily basis. Our final media source for advertising would be using social media such as Facebook and Twitter. This will probably be our least used marketing channel due to the fact that majority of the baby booming era are still learning to use these different social media outlets. Once we are done spending on television and newspaper advertisements we will use the rest of our budget on social media. Putting them in places such as Facebook and Twitter allows the small audience of baby boomers that use these
