“General notion about research budgets have a tendency to single out data collection as the most costly activity” (Cooper & Schindler, 2014, p. 80). One should have budgetary approval in order to avoid the research being canceled due to shortage of resources. There is a lot of interaction between budgeting and value assessment (Cooper & Schindler, 2014). There are evaluations of methods that are used in stage two. These methods are ex post facto evaluation, prior or interim evolution, option analysis, decision theory, are defined on page 81 of our class …show more content…
“Research design is the blueprint for fulfilling objective and answering questions” (Cooper & Schindler, 2014, p. 82). The design process maybe that the research be either a secondary data study, a survey, a case study, a simulation, or an experiment. If a survey is chosen, will it be a computer survey or by mail, these are decisions that have to be decided in the design stage. An additional step is the sampling design that identifies and targets the population. Another design could be pilot testing. “A pilot testing is conducted to detect weaknesses in design and instrumentation and to provide proxy date for selection of probability sample (Cooper & Schindler, 2014, p. 85). Stage three provides choices in designing a research project.
Stage four is data collection and preparation. This data can range from a simple observation to something that is impressive. Whatever method selected will determine how the data is collected (Cooper & Schindler, 2014). Data may be characterized by abstractness, elusiveness, verifiability, and closeness to the phenomenon. Data collection does not require a one way collect. One has various ways to collect the data
