The more new skills you learn the more it becomes easy to apply it to class work. In 2004 Nature article reported that, “that people who learned how to juggle increased the amount of gray matter in their occipital lobes, the area of the brain is associated with visual memory” (Cherry, 2015). When you stop using that certain skill the gray matter will be gone so it is important to keep up with the news skills. Even learning things outside the classroom helps our brain develop skills to use in other times of our lives. Remember there are different ways to learn besides juts sitting in class. There’s visual learning, auditory learning, and etc. By learning in different ways help keeps the information more intact in your brain. “The more regions of the brain that store data about a subject, the more interconnection there is”(Cherry, 2015). When taking the exams your brain will automatically try to piece the answers by using different interactions from the brain and from different angles to help solve the problem. The more familiar you become with the subject the easier it will be to recall. Another important thing is to stop multitasking. It is important to concentrate on task and not too many at one time. This can get distracting and it is easy to lose focus on what is important. “By switching from one activity to another, you will learn more slowly, become less efficient and make more errors” …show more content…
Freaking out before the exams will make things worse. Being calm will help recall memories. Try sitting in the same spot that you always do when taking the exam. “Sports psychology tells us that the act of mentally rehearsing the process of doing anything will mean you will feel calmer and more confident when it comes time to actually do the task or execute the move”(2012). By doing this your mind is already visualizing what is going to happens to you and you will be in a much more comfortable setting. This way your mind wont wonder off or get distracted. Another thing to remember when actually taking the exam is that it is okay to change your answer. Regardless of what someone might tell you it is positively okay to change an answer that you are unsure of. It is true that your first choice is right but remembers that is not always the case. “…A May, 2005, study of 1,561 introductory psychology midterm exams found that when students changed their answers, they went from wrong to right 51% of the time, right to wrong 25% of the time, and wrong to a different wrong answer 23% of the time” (Journal of Personality and Social Psychology, Vol. 88, 725-735). The more your mind gets comfortable and used to the surrounding the more your brain will be able to
