Graduation Speech: Cooky Grocery Bag

During the Christmas season, I was invited by the Texas Accolade Sports Academy to congratulate the senior players throughout the state on graduating high school, and for living up to their dreams of playing in a prestigious college. The auditorium was filled with students from different cities, all joyful and anxious to receive their medals of honor for their achievements. I was assigned to give a motivating speech on aspirations to the swarm of individuals seated around me, but I didn’t quite understand what that meant until I stood on top of that podium. The warm smiles on the parents’ faces, cheerful for the success of their children, was when I finally realized the true meaning of love not only in sports, but in life. The mass of people throughout the auditorium thought that I had lost my mind, but I had a much deeper, influential message that the audience was yet to figure out. I compared the plastic grocery bag to the tennis ball which I had mentioned earlier in my speech, representing the bag as being the only barrier to hard work, but in a much more positive way than expected. I used the plastic bag to demonstrate the maximum capacity of work that any individual could take, while the cans that I constantly shoved inside the bag portrayed the amount of effort that a person puts into a specific task. At one point, the grocery bag became full, which was what I called the ‘Peak of Exertion.’ In my opinion, this displayed the maximum amount of effort that any individual can put into his/her body, in order to preserve their mind and energy for the next daunting task.
