Descriptive Essay: Penn Place In The Heart Of New York

I live in the heart of Manhattan. I live one block away from Penn station, in between 34th and 35th street on 8th avenue. I live at the Wyndham New Yorker Hotel. I am in a very populated area of New York City. It is not populated with lots of residence but with commuters and tourists. The building that I live at is the only place on my block that you can reside. You can tell that my street is very touristy and very convenient for commuters. The buildings that are on my streets are all food stores. On my block we have a pizza shop, a diner, McDonalds and a Starbucks. On the corner of the block is both a CVS and a Duane Reade. By living right at Penn Station our block is a very busy place at rush hours during the week. So in-between …show more content…
The next block over is Macys and from the New Yorker hotel it is only a five minute walk to time square. Madison Square garden is also above Penn Station. The New Yorker is the closest hotel to Madison Square Garden. Due to the vast number of tourist attractions near the block that I live on, the block is always busy and crowded. Madison Square Garden is home to many different concerts, sports games, and even different shows. The most recent big event that took place at Madison Square Garden lead to an increase to hotel residence over the week. The Westminster Dog Show took place and many of the Dogs and there handlers stayed at the hotel since it was a two minute walk to Madison Square Garden. The events at Madison Square garden have led to many famous people living at the hotel and have brought many guest to the hotel as well. Most people that travel on the block are people who are just passing by. The shops that are on the street are a strong indicator of that. All of the food places are quick in and out restaurants. The only place where you can sit down and eat is the dinner, but that still feels very rushed and is not a place where you want to stay long.
