Mom was in shock learning her sister Kara never died. Mom and I were heading to the market to ‘stock up on food’ which means we look at everything find the lowest price and buy a couple of them. On our way there we talked about who was going to England next week. “I think you and dad should go,” I replied. But of course she disagreed and soon we were headed to the airport. The air smelled of fresh snow, and car pollution. The airport was HUGE!!! It was more than 100x the size of our house. We had to wait a while for parking because there were so many cars and people. When we finally parked we were about ½ a mile away from the nearest airport entrance. As we were walking I started shivering so mom came up behind me and held next to keep me warm. When we got the entrance it was bustling with cars and people with large suitcases. I felt kind of embarrassed because all I had was a small backpack. We headed straight to guest service to pick up our tickets. “Last name,” the lady at the counter asked. She was young, mid thirties maybe and she had beautiful brown eyes and a stern look on her face. Her name tag said Maddy. “Tates” mom replied
