Essay On What Makes Life Matter

What makes life matter is a very debatable subject. Which is more important legacy, god, or wisdom/virtue? Personally, legacy is most important in my life. I believe leaving positive impacts behind for my family and others to be inspired by would make my life complete. My view on legacy is similar to the movie The Pursuit of Happyness. This movie portrays a story of a poor father, his son and the father’s struggle for success as a stockbroker. His one ultimate goal was to be remembered by his son for doing something great. “I met my father for the first time when I was 28 years old. And I made up my mind as a young kid that when I had children my children were gonna know who their father was” (“The Pursuit of Happiness”). Legacy is depicted …show more content…
In the beginning his bosses doubted his intelligence and his ambition for success, however after seeing him constantly working hard and giving it all he had they decided to offer him the position. The story of his struggles and triumphs will live on through the words of others eventually leave his legacy instilled in everyone who hears it. Chris once states, ”You got a dream. You gotta protect it. People can 't do somethin ' themselves, they wanna tell you you can 't do it. If you want somethin ', go get it. Period” (“The Pursuit of Happiness”). This is one of the most famous quotes that Chris said to Chris Jr. which meant, to never let anyone stop you in your pursuit for success no matter where you come from. One of the last scenes in the movie was when Chris was offered the position for a stock broker he broke down in tears. For me this was a profound moment in Chris’s journey of success; where he reflects on where he came from, how difficult the journey was and, that moment where he finally made it. Although Chris’s life and story didn’t impact the entire world it changed him and his son’s world and possibly the world of future generations. Leaving a legacy behind sets a precedent for future generations as they grow
