History has a way of showing and defining leadership characteristics. There have been many philosophers and great leaders that have paved the way for the new generation of leaders. Through their experiences and research we are able to understand and observe how different people work in leadership roles within a social setting. Kurt Lewin was a psychologist that focused on group dynamics and social interactions. He defined a great moment in leadership and outlined specific roles that would alter the way that future leaders function within a group.

In current times we can see how this style has developed into many forms of leadership whether it is in a school, business or even a government setting. It is obvious that the democratic leadership style promotes a form of unity within a group of people. Though the democratic leader has the final say in the decisions, the group as a whole has taken part in the discussion. This type leadership promotes a positive working environment.
Laissez- Faire Leadership Style “ In the Laissez-faire leadership all authority or power is given to the employees and they must determine goals, make decisions, and resolve problems on their own.” (Khan, Khan, & Qureshi, 2015, p. 87). This leadership style is one that is not common in the workplace. We may see on occasion how a leader may give an individual person or a group full reign in managing a particular task, but it is usually for a short period of time.
