The words above come across as simple, and reductive. That sentence written or said anywhere else would be regarded as a cliché self-help mantra. Yet, they have become a mantra I choose to live by. They remind me that every decision I make, no matter how trivial at that moment, is important in the grand scheme of things. The ability to affect such widespread change from little is indispensable to leadership, and the career I have chosen for myself. As a Public health major, I am constantly learning how important the health and well-being of the community or society and how it affects the people in the population. On Prior to this class i only understood that you can either be a good leader or a bad one. I also knew from personal experience that leadership styles varied according to the leader in question. In the next ten years I want to be more of a democratic leader who can change leadership style to both authoritarian and delegate style when the need arises. I also hold the opinion that effective leaders put in a lot of practice. Hence, the mock interviews were a small but critical component of my growth this semester. The mock interviews helped me understand an interview from two different perspective, from the interviewer to the person being interviewed. One key takeaway was the importance of taking sufficient time to prepare adequately. This allowed an interviewee to appear knowledgeable even if he/she was not. In addition, one must look smart and professional because first impressions matters a lot. I was asked questions from my peers that threw me off balance while some of the questions were easy. In all, the mock interview reduced my anxiety, prepared me for behavioral based questions, and also provided a forum for constructive criticism and

For this assignment, I interviewed Felicia Low, a Program Advisor at the School of Public Health. This interview taught me a lot about myself and my interpersonal communication skills when it comes to communication on a one-on-one basis. Prior to the interview, I was a bit nervous since I did not know Mrs. Low personally and never communicated with her face-to-face. I prepared to conduct the interview in a way that it would feel like a normal conversation and not a regular interview. For example, I would not always say things from the interview questions that I prepared, I would sometimes ask a question on piece of information that she would share.…
