In today’s business world it seems that you have even more need for leaders. The problem is when you don’t have clear leaders and to many managers that have no leadership skills. Effective leaders have the ability to make employees believe in the clear vision of what you are trying to achieve. Managers direct the path to what the leaders have shown you in their vision. An effective leader can convince you to move a mountain with only a rope and your will power. A great manager makes sure the path is clear to move the mountain and you have a strong rope.
In our reading Understanding Business they discuss what leaders need to pose to be effective. They should be able to communicate a vision make others believe in the vision. They are responsible for establishing corporate values. The most important value

I returned to college to show others that it’s never too late to finish something. I know that if I get myself more educated that this will increase my ability to lead others. I have found that writing classes that I had helped me write better reports for the board member and explain things clearer to others outside the bank. I have over twenty-five years of experience in accounting, but without finishing my degree this is really all for nothing. I have the knowledge to complete most any accounting function but I need to have the education to prove to others that what I am doing is backed up by my education just not experience.
It’s up to each employee to decide if they want to lead or be a follower. If you dedicate yourself to you position and take pride in your work it will show. Continuing education and professional development will aid you increasing your knowledge and will make others believe in what you are trying to do.
