Leadership and Decision Making Decisions are the cornerstone to a great leader and if you are an indecisive person you will never be able to lead effectively. “When we think of what makes someone a great leader, one characteristic that comes to mind is decisiveness. We do not envision successful leaders standing around appearing unclear and uncertain” (Kase, 2010). Recently my own decision making skills were determined through an assessment test. My score reflected that I am in the category of having an excellent approach to decision-making. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths” (Proverbs 3:5-6 ESV). That scripture has been guiding me for nearly two decades. I make no major decisions without the guidance of our Lord and Savior. “It is therefore critical that leaders base their choices firmly on biblical principles that will protect them from mistakes” (Blackaby & Blackaby, 2011). When we seek Him and rely upon his word to guide us, the plan or decision is foolproof. When we hear from Him, what path to take regarding a decision and we ignore it out of fear or whatever, we open ourselves up to the enemy or God’s …show more content…
I feel the assessment was relatively accurate. When I find myself in the position of having to make a decision with a group of people, it is my policy to make sure that everyone understands why we are there and what needs to be accomplished. I begin and end with prayer. I believe that everyone at the table is entitled to speak and there are no stupid questions. I also am very mindful of attitudes and tones and from the start ask that everyone be respectful of one another, nine out of ten times I end up with a positive environment conducive to producing a decision. Once a decision is made, I need to make sure that the decision is the right decision. I often walk away from the decision until I have heard from the Lord. If the Lord gives me the green light, then we are a go. If not, and He has given me clarity on the issue, then the group will reconvene and follow what the Lord has

I possess a quality of leadership that is as rallying as it is unyielding. I often find myself arriving at a decision, planning on how to accomplish this goal and standing by it. Although, this trait this can presumed as stubbornness, I place great emphasis on being a leader that presents herself as a figure of strong resolve but also as someone others can come to in a time of need. In my experience, by being a leader that serves as the foundation for her peer’s personal growth and prosperity will find this in return from them. However, this does not include yielding to faulty excuses or covering up what is lacking.…

With an abundant number of Gods, the question arises of how a person would understand which God’s command is correct, if there is controversy. I would hope that in my six years prior to being promoted to an assistant principal, I would have laid the foundation for positive relationships with the students, or at least some pocket of students. Additionally, I would think about the mindset of not necessarily the students, but the current faculty and staff and begin to measure the outlook that is currently in place. From here I would want to make changes that lead the community to a more positive mindset and outlook. Green (2013) states, “Effective leaders emphasized the development of interpersonal relationships while focusing on the personal needs of followers and the development of the kinds of relationships that would motivate followers to set and achieve high performance goals”.…

As the bird in William Cullen Bryant’s “To a Waterfowl” flew across an endless sky to reach its destination, we, as humans, live our complicated lives with innumerable “paths” to take. These “paths” can represent choices such as where to go to college, what career field to enter into, whether or not to marry, and so forth. While some people choose their paths of life impulsively and without thinking over their choice, others leave the choice up to chance. However, a select few choose to allow God to guide their way through life and to trust in Him to help them make the right decisions, as the Bible teaches us to do.…

Leaders are concerned with understanding people’s beliefs and gaining their commitment. They function without focusing on the opinions of others, which allows them to think of new ideas and motivate others to develop these…
