What Does Laughter Mean To You Essay

Laughter is one of the main ways to interact with others. It is a social experience that not only makes oneself feel good, but also helps to make new bonds and strengthen bonds that are present. When one laughs or gives a happy snort, it shows that one is entertained by another and for at least the moment enjoys the other’s company. The one who caused the laugh receives a boost a confidence and happiness in return. With positive emotions flowing between the two, a relationship is able to abruptly blossom. Because of this fast-track to friendship, many people subconsciously try to make others laugh. Some do this by quick wit, petty insults, or by pranking. However, all have the ability to insult or wound the other person. To avoid this, I am always hyper aware of who I am talking to and what they are sensitive about. Some people jump, some shake, and others scream with gusto. During my junior year of high school, I befriended a girl named Liana. She was extremely easy to scare and I loved it. Several times I followed her into the girl’s bathroom, hide behind the adjacent stall’s door, and wait, before jumping out like a gorilla on steroids. Every time, she would scream at the top of her lungs. Once, she even saw my feet and expected me, but she still screamed and pointed accusingly at me. After about the third time, I began to worry that it might just be funny for me and that Liana might be upset. However, the next time I snuck up on her, she caught me and was elated.
