The bible says in Psalm 24:1-2, “The earth is the Lord’s, and everything in it, the world, and all who live in it; for he founded it upon the seas and established it upon the waters.” There are a lot of biblical stories and facts which prove how important it is to keep nature safe, preserved, and restored. Nature is one of the most important gift from God. In the book of Genesis, before God even created Adam and Eve, he created the land, the sea, flowers, trees and all other things which relate to the environment. Through out the years, the state of the environment has been degrading so much. Some people argue that human being is the most important creation of God so we should focus on satisfying people’s need, instead of taking care of the environment, and animals. However, all environmental disasters affect people, whether in the long-term, or in the short-term. Others also argue that protecting the environment is less important than other tasks we must fulfill for the grace of God, such as sharing his word, obeying the 10 commandements, and other rules written for us in the Bible. Yes, we must follow God’s rules, but we must also preserve the land and sea the Almight God created for us to live peacuful, and happy. People argue that it is not part of the ‘10 commandements’ of God to preserve the environment. This is a huge misconception due to lack of understanding and knowledge of Christianity, which they think its main concern is to adore God by praising his name every single day. Sure it is, but let us take it into reconsideration and try not to understand all the words literally. Most ‘holy people’ are in service of mankind, and to be in service of the environment is to be in service of mankind.
