An Experience That Changed My Life Analysis

Improved Essays
I have not had many job experiences outside of the military. For me, the U.S. Navy is my first job. Through these life lessons I have learned a lot about myself and how strong I can be in difficult situations and circumstances. I never thought in a million years I would be in the military but it has showed me that everything happens for a reason.

Throughout my childhood I always felt like I had good work ethic. From the time I started school, I was always encouraged to go to college because of my drive and ambition. Education has always been a big priority in my life, as they say “knowledge is power”. My parents supported my decision to join the military and they are also proud that I am still pursuing my degree while serving my country. I always think about how things would have been if I went to UNC Wilmington or any other college in North Carolina instead of joining the military, but life can turn you in different directions and I believe everything happens for a reason.

. Joining the Navy has been the biggest milestone in my life and also my first real job. Throughout my high school years I had the experience of going on a few job interviews and I even had a part time job at a kiosk in my hometown mall for about a month. I also work for a while at my grandmother’s home healthcare business, I was also a teacher’s assistant my junior year of high school. All of the small jobs I had gave me a little idea about responsibility and work ethic, but they did not prepare me for the work force and responsibility I had to have in the U.S.

“A handful of moments I wished I could change, but I was carried away,” are the lyrics that remind a lot about myself. Growing up, and even about two years ago, I was insanely shy and did not talk much around people, friends, or family. The way I talked to people was in a timid, soft spoken way, which looking back, was awfully embarrassing. My friends and family would laugh at me because I could not talk well, and when I did talk, they acted as if I were a baby who just said its first words. With all of that nonsense going on, their idiotic response kind of made me not want to say anything anymore.…
